The Chevy Equinox stands out as a dependable compact SUV with a stylish design and impressive performance. It offers a variety of powertrain options, including all-wheel drive, making it appealing to crossover enthusiasts. Despite its size, the Equinox delivers competitive fuel economy. The vehicle’s design aligns closely with Chevy’s sedan lineup, featuring refined details that enhance its appeal.

The base model features a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine achieving up to 31 mpg on highways, complemented by a six-speed automatic transmission.

Customers can upgrade to a 3.6-liter V6 engine offering 301 horsepower, capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in 6.7 seconds. The Equinox can tow up to 3500 lbs. All trims, except the base, come with available all-wheel drive. While the vehicle scores well in crash tests, it lacks some safety features like automatic emergency braking, and its visibility is average, affecting its federal safety ratings.

The Equinox delivers 21 mpg in city driving and 31 mpg on highway with all-wheel drive, averaging 25 mpg combined. The base model’s fuel efficiency is notable in its segment. Adding all-wheel drive reduces efficiency to approximately 20/29/23 mpg city/highway/combined. Four-cylinder models feature an “Eco” mode that enhances fuel savings by adjusting systems such as air conditioning and shift points, and preemptively locking the torque converter. The V6 front-drive variants achieve around 17/24/20 mpg, making all-wheel drive more popular among V6 purchasers due to better performance and efficiency.

Eco-friendly engine downsizing remains a trend, and while Chevy’s engines prioritize fuel economy over speed, they still provide attractive mileage figures.
