The Historic Development of Miracle Ear Hearing Devices

Founded in 1948 by Kenneth Dahlberg, Miracle Ear began with a single hearing aid product developed by Dahlberg Electronics. Originally, the company specialized in manufacturing pillow radios for hospitals before moving into hearing solutions.

Over the years, Dahlberg Electronics has pioneered numerous advancements in hearing technology. In the 1950s, they introduced hearing aids utilizing cutting-edge transistor technology. In 1953, they launched a unique hybrid device combining vacuum tubes and transistors. They also introduced the first 'in-the-ear' model, integrating key components such as battery, microphone, and receiver into a compact unit.

In addition, Miracle Ear developed the solar-powered D-14 eyeglass hearing aid. The company made significant innovations, such as the first integrated circuitry-based hearing aid in 1962 and Ultra-Low Circuit technology in 1971. The late 1980s saw the launch of the Miracle Ear Dolphin, the first programmable hearing aid. In 1997, the FDA recognized their ability to improve hearing amid background noise.

In 1998, Miracle Ear introduced technology enabling doctors to customize hearing aids for individual patients. By 2003, all devices transitioned from analog to digital. The past decade brought milestones like the Open Fit design, waterproof and shock-resistant models, and the Mirage, an invisible in-the-ear device. Recently, they introduced ClearVation technology, which adapts to user preferences automatically.
