Founded in 1994 by Malcolm Lorang and Roger D. Linguist, MetroPCS began as General Wireless. The founders, former PageMart Wireless executives, aimed to create a competitive wireless carrier. Today, MetroPCS operates as a prepaid wireless provider under T-Mobile US, Inc., offering a variety of plans with nationwide coverage.

The company provides services including texting, calling, and data, utilizing networks such as 4G LTE, HSPA, GSM, and HSPA+. Its portfolio includes a range of MetroPCS-branded smartphones, reflecting its growth in the telecom sector.

MetroPCS Wireless Services

Initially operating on CDMA technology, MetroPCS was the sixth-largest wireless network in the US. On June 21, 2015, it transitioned from CDMA to an LTE-based network integrated with T-Mobile’s 4G infrastructure, along with new device offerings.
