Overview of the Latest Tesla Model 3 Enhancements
Tesla continues to dominate the electric vehicle market, with the Model 3 being a key driver of the brand’s success. Introduced in 2017, it remains Tesla’s most affordable model, despite several price increases that have added over $10,000 since early 2021. Should you consider purchasing the new Model 3? Here’s everything you need to know:
Variants and Pricing
The latest Model 3 is available in three configurations, each tailored to different preferences, reflecting Tesla’s goal to appeal to a broad audience.

Rear-wheel drive: The base trim, previously known as Standard Range, is priced at $44,490. It offers an affordable entry point with a top speed of 140 mph, a range of 267 miles, and accelerates from 0–60 mph in 5.8 seconds.
Long Range: This version, powered by dual motors and all-wheel drive, delivers higher performance with a top speed of 145 mph, approximately 358 miles of range, and a 0–60 mph time of 4.2 seconds. Starting at $50,990, it offers a more luxurious experience.
Performance: Designed for enthusiasts seeking maximum power, this trim reaches a top speed of 162 mph, achieves 315 miles of range, and accelerates from 0–60 mph in just 3.1 seconds.
Getting Started
Owners can access the vehicle using three keys: a smartphone app setup, a $150 key fob, or a Tesla key card. The key card works by swiping on the B-pillar. Using the phone or key fob requires approaching the vehicle, pressing the right side of the door handle, and opening the door. When within five feet of the car, automatic locking occurs. Remote locking and unlocking are possible via the Tesla app or key fob.
Driving Experience
The Tesla Model 3 uses an electronic throttle instead of a traditional gas pedal, delivering silent, instant acceleration. Releasing the pedal triggers regenerative braking, but a conventional brake pedal is still available. The vehicle’s system seamlessly combines acceleration with energy recovery during deceleration.
Customization Options
The 2022 Model 3 includes two standard exterior colors—Midnight Silver Metallic and Pearl White—with additional hues available for an extra $1,000–$2,000. Customers can also opt for full self-driving capabilities for an additional $10,000. The vehicle combines luxury features such as a 15-inch touchscreen, autopilot, and versatile drivetrain options, ranging from approximately $40,000 to $60,000 depending on trim and features. It offers an economical alternative within Tesla’s lineup.
