The 2018 Chevrolet Traverse has been redesigned with an extended wheelbase inspired by the Chevrolet Tahoe, enhancing passenger comfort and ride quality in this three-row SUV. Upgrades include improved towing capacity, fuel efficiency, and horsepower, thanks to modifications to the 3.6-liter V6 engine paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Though not primarily a tow vehicle, these enhancements boost overall performance. The Traverse boasts features like Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless charging, multiple USB ports, and spacious seating to improve convenience and comfort.
Chevrolet introduced a new traction mode feature, allowing drivers to adjust driving settings based on terrain for better off-road handling.
Powertrain: The 3.6-liter V6 engine remains, now producing approximately 300 horsepower—up 10%. A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine offering 259-272 horsepower is also available.
Technology: Unlike traditional AWD systems that are constantly engaged, the 2018 Traverse's AWD automatically disengages on smooth roads to improve fuel economy.
This system also reduces front tire wear and allows selection of terrain modes such as snow, off-road, or towing via the Traction Mode Select system. In normal mode, the vehicle operates as a front-wheel drive.
