Overview of Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL Features

Google introduced the Pixel 2 series, comprising the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, during a launch event on October 4, 2017. These models succeed the original Pixel lineup and represent the second generation of Google's flagship smartphones. Available from October 19, 2017, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL showcase Google's latest hardware innovations. Initially, HTC was expected to manufacture these devices, but production was later assigned to LG for the Pixel 2 XL. The phones feature a combination of aluminum, plastic, and glass in their design.

The Pixel 2 XL sports a 6-inch p-OLED display, while the Pixel 2 features a 5-inch AMOLED screen. Both models run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chips, equipped with 4GB RAM and options for 64GB or 128GB storage. Their rear cameras, both 12.2MP, support 4K video recording and include phase detection autofocus, HDR processing, and laser autofocus technology.

Out of the box, the Pixel 2 runs Android 8.0 Oreo and was regarded as having one of the best smartphone cameras in late 2017. The devices are appreciated for their camera quality and water resistance. They are available through carriers like Project Fi and Verizon, and can be purchased via retail stores such as Best Buy and Target, as well as Google’s online store. Unlocked versions purchased from Google are compatible with major networks, with pricing starting at $649 for the 64GB model, or through monthly installments of around $27. Verizon also offers attractive deals, with the Pixel 2 priced approximately at $27 per month over two years, with no upfront cost, and a $649.99 retail price for the 64GB variant.
